What are Blum 170 Degree Hinges

This wide angle clip top hinge allows the cabinet door to open 170 degrees enabling full access to the stored contents within. The hinges are metal alloy with a durable nickel coating and are compatible with all mounting plates in Blum's Clip Top range. Two types of cabinet door hinges are available, straight hinges are used for overlay door applications while twin application hinges are used when two individual doors are mounted on the same cabinet frame. Blum hinges are synonymous with being easy to install, a 35mm hole bored to a min depth of 11mm is required. Each hinge requires a mounting plate attaching to the cabinet side, 0mm when used with 18mm thick carcases and a 3mm mounting plate when used with a 15mm carcass.

The door and Blum 170 degree hinge simply clips to the mounting plate without the need for tools. Once fitted, these hinges are fully adjustable in three dimensions for precise door alignment at the touch of a spiral screw. The hinges are known as sprung staying open or closed as required and may be turned into soft close hinges with the addition of the optional clip on soft close mechanism. Hinges can be purchased individually or as a discounted bundle to include a 0mm mounting plate and hinge arm cover.

Please note: due to the cabinet door hinges design, it is not suitable for use on cupboards or furniture that are accessible or reached by small children as small fingers may get between the working mechanism and the hinge. In this instance we recommend the 155° zero protrusion hinge be used

How do I know what door to buy to fit my units

A door is generally between 3mm and 4mm shorter and narrower than the Kitchen Unit.  EG if the Kitchen Units is 720mm high and 300mm wide then you need a door that is 715mm high and 296-297mm* narrower.

*Kitchen Door Manufacturers use different door widths as standard but they are always between 3mm and 5mm narrower than the unit.

Some examples are.The Tuscany Door comes as 715 x 296 as standard, The Strada Door comes as 715 x 297 as standard

Should I order my Kitchen Doors or Units first on the Website

We suggest you write a list of your units and put the door size needed beside it.  Next go into the Door Style you want and add the doors into the shopping cart, this means if there is a size you need and it is not available then you can adjust your Unit/Door list to suit.

For example if you have in your unit list a 350 wide single base unit and a 450 wide single base unit and the door style you like is not available to fit a 450 unit, you can change your base units to 2 400 wide units and still get the doors you really want.
